And the shooter is a Christian Nationalist. So, I'm sure he reacted to her calm queerness. Her wife had just interacted with him, before she did. This should be a hate crime. My hope? There are no statutes of limitations for murder. The state of MN can take a decade for all I care, so long as Renee Good and her family eventually sees a modicum of justice.

That ICE thing is a fucking murderer

And every member is an accomplice along with their Der Leaders Trump, Miller, Noem and Todd Lyons.

RTN's avatar

100% he is. In the days since this horrific incident I have been wondering though … how many other times has that animal Jonathan Ross done this and got away with it? This time there is ample video footage from different angles, but what about the others? He certainly wasn't thrown by his actions, not his first rodeo so to speak.

David's avatar

That last exchange of words encapsulates the magats, and everyone else : “ I’m not mad at you” from Rene, and “fucking bitch” from a guy who should never been allowed to carry a gun (on Iraq or anywhere else). As Tim Miller points out, 200 armed Capitol and Metro police were clubbed stabbed and sprayed by people who were certainly threatening their lives; not a shot was fired, and Harry Dunn led the invaders away from the people he was protecting when anyone else might have emptied their gun.

I’m not sure if it’s a difference in training or humanity, but it is a striking divide.

Ransom Rideout's avatar

Both I believe, David. Hired for lack of humanity and given a gun with no training. Big salary, big pension and just "Go get'm!". Real humanity is everpresent in Jo's world and the company she keeps and brings to this Stack. Like you and all the others who understand and appreciate her moral clarity. She lets our anger be real, but focused and directed. She understands.

I also saw that Tim Miller commentary David. It was very powerful, emotionally fueled and right on point. We cannot allow this shit to be normalized.

I am a registered Republican and before you start hating me for that - I am a REAL Republican, not a MAGA cult member rooting for Donald the Orange-shitsicle to turn the USA into a fascist dictatorship based on 'Christian Nationalism' aka replacing the swastika on the Nazi flag with a cross and duping 100 million idiots into cheering the people enslaving them... and I wrote about this event and lost 100 paid subscribers and 1000 free ones in the last 3 days.

At no point in American history has it EVER been permissible to violently execute a citizen and these MAGA cult members saying 'FAFO' as the excuse that allows this? These people need to have their voting rights revoked because they are clearly psychotic, 'useful idiots'.

It's a shame we have lost the ability to civililly disagree, truly argue in the Aristotelian sense, and compromise or be persuaded.

That ship sailed away on January 6, 2021. This is a fight for the Republic.

MA Polar Bear's avatar

Try the Socratic method. Just ask questions. This approach has destroyed many law students who thought he (Yes, he, and not she) knew it all. I was witness to this.

Bronx Liberal's avatar

Maga = Republican. Republican = MAGA. Fuck off. 'Only a real Scotsman' bullshit.

Same as the 'only a real christian' crap.

🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

You sound like a 'real idiot'. MAGA did not exist prior to 2016. The Republican party is hundreds of years old. We are the ones that freed the slaves, remember?

Al Keim's avatar

No you are living in the long ago past lobo. By continuing to associate with the present day republican party you are denouncing everything Abraham Lincoln stood and fought for.

🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

So by trying to return my chosen political party to its roots, I am denouncing the things that one of my party's greatest presidents ever espoused? Do you read what you write after you type it or do you just slop out whatever the first thing that comes into your head is?

The Republican party was founded on limited government, checks and balances, individual liberty, and representational government. These are principles that predate Trump by about a hundred and sixty years. MAGA is a recent development within the party that I have criticized publicly and repeatedly, which you would know if you actually read what I write instead of assuming you already know everything about me because I checked a different box than you did.

The fact that you cannot distinguish between a lifelong Republican with libertarian leanings who wants his party to return to its constitutional roots and whatever caricature of a Trump supporter lives rent-free in your head tells me everything I need to know about how you process information. You have sorted the entire world into two tribes and anyone who is not in your tribe must be in the enemy tribe, and everyone in the enemy tribe is exactly the same.

That is not thinking. That is pattern-matching for lazy people who let cable news do their reasoning for them.

I criticize Republicans when they deserve it and Democrats when they deserve it because I am not a cultist for either team. Can you say the same?

KingRayVet's avatar

No, fuck you. You did not free us. It was all about money, business, and the fact others had stopped the nonsense long before the U.S. did. You need to go back and read some history about that fucking ordeal. Then afterwards, we went right into Jim Crow. So, fuck off, you maggot. We've been fighting people like you all of my life and my ancestor's life. They were just called something else. Like crackas.

I started to feel something for you until you said that. Now, you can just go slink under the rock you came out from under. You voted for that asshole, and I'll never forgive you or your brethren. Now, you people are running around like robots talking about how you freed us. We're still not free, asshole. Only ignorant racists talk about freeing slaves.

Bronx Liberal's avatar

And you are the ones destroying our country right now. Maga isn't a political party. WTF does what republicans did 2 centuries ago have to do with what you are doing now? Fuck off twice, asshole. There are plenty of other sites for you.

🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

You are the Democratic equivalent of the Republican MAGA.

A sycophantic tribalist that sees everything in two shades, 'red' or 'blue'.

People like you should not be allowed to vote on either side of the ticket.

You are all basically soccer hooligans rooting for your favorite team.

Bronx Liberal's avatar

You have some big balls coming on this site with your Maga bullshit!

How did you get so many recs?? This is why we will lose this war. Too many people want to do kumbaya with fascists.

🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

I have at least 15 published articles on here against fascism citing Trump is following the exact same playbook that Hitler did as he rose to power over Weimar Republic Germany but you are a tribalist idiot that sees everything in two shades, 'red' and 'blue' and are no different than the MAGA fascists except you are a WOKE communist. The same extremist psychopathy but with a different coat of paint. Turn off CNN for a few days, read a book. Maybe check out Howard Zinn. Your brain might start to recover.

Might want to spend some time away from whatever drugs you have been smoking the last 30 years because your brain does not function correctly anymore.

Al Keim's avatar

The republican party is irreparable. Every decent member has abandoned ship. No American of conscience can vote for the remainder of your fantasy.

Clear enough?

Bronx Liberal's avatar

Let's see. A Republican TROLL, who said he voted for The Rapist, just came on JoJo's site and called us potheads, sycophants (to who?), that we shouldn't vote, we can't think and we're lazy.

Sure sounds like a Republican to me.

🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

Wow, what a generic thing to say after having argued with me for 3 comments.

I have a response for people like you that is far less contrived.

A wise man once said, 'Never argue with a stupid person because they will just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience'.

You are both just tribalist nutcases no better than a MAGA supporter.

Debby Griffiths's avatar

I will say, when Joe Walsh, Adam Kinzinger and most of the people who ran McCain's campaign abandon ship, the party is pretty much over. I remember when to be a republican was to be conservative, but not insane. John Lindsey was a republican as was Jacob Javits who I voted for when I was in college. Just like any other party, it has done wonderful things and horrible things. Right now, they are lying back and taking no responsibility for the actions of trump. This is unforgivable. LBJ enhanced the war, Nixon ended it. That is counter to what they were even then...times change and sides change. This moment is I don't even know what. No respected leader of any party or country has been so graspingly greedy, announcing what he wants and the hell with the world order. I wanna know what the fuck do we do now that the oil companies don't want to "invest". Are the American taxpayers going to foot that bill too? Personally, I am running Do You Hear the People Sing in my head almost constantly lately. Or Baba O'Reilly LOL

Debby Griffiths's avatar

My mother was a republican like you, may even still be registered as one, but probably hasn't voted nationally for one since Nixon 1? I do feel for you; I worked with a guy who was a lot like you during shitstain's first occupation. Even then, he conceded the man was no republican. Oh yeah, he was a history teacher!

🐺The Wise Wolf's avatar

Trump said in the 80s that if he ever ran for office, he would run as a Republican not because he 'is' a Republican but because their party would be the easiest one to manipulate the voters and buy off politicians. It's pretty sad honestly. I don't think most people realize what a 'Republican' even is at this point. I just had a black guy I had been private chatting with a few weeks back that seemed like a real interesting person completely explode on me and telling me I can 'go straight to Hell' because he saw I am a Republican. Apparently he never studied the history books and came across the fact it was the REPUBLICAN PARTY that freed the slaves under Lincoln...

Debby Griffiths's avatar

Trump knows nothing of history. Just need. An id out of control

KingRayVet's avatar

You lie like a Rethuglican, too. Is that what you tell yourself to sleep at night? Quit whining. I didn't cuss you out and block you because you belong to the worst party in the history of man right now. I did that for using the same old tired racist trope of Republicans freeing slaves, which wasn't a noble act on your part. All of you sound like robots, and this isn't by far the first time I've heard white people say that as some kind of 'get out of jail free card' for being racist. No, to hell with that; you crossed the line. Lincoln had slaves, too, and was pressured into 'freeing us' straight into Jim Crow. I lived that shit and you're an insensitive prick. You probably voted for the asshole, too.

You missed my other comment that started with, "Fuck you." You don't know what you're talking about and are the one who misconstrued history & the present day experience.

Also saying it was long ago, when WE Blacks are still living under the affects of it, also shows how ignorantly white you are. Typical GOP mindset. With people like you running around, racism will never go away. You're in denial, which isn't just a river in Egypt.

You're an arrogant, slimy, covert racist. That's worse than being overt. Your lies are showing who you really are, and we were talking about software months ago. Has nothing to do with anything. Had I known what was lurking in your covert mind, I would've never spoken to you. People like you are dangerous as you manipulate and toy with words. You blew your own cover and are now insulting everyone challenging you. That's sick, full of fragility & pride, and God-awful. Typical white male egotistical bullshit. Dismissed.

I don’t know what to do with my anger. It’s just too much. Tonight I’ll go to a vigil for Renee and gather with others who feel both the anger and the numbness that loss brings. I can’t stop thinking about her child. A child that was dropped off at school just like any other day. I’m trying to wrap my head around it and I can’t even begin to imagine it.

I’ll go tonight and I know I’ll cry because I still have tears. I don’t know if they’ll last the horrors of this regime but they’ll flow tonight.Love you Jo.💔😢

debra's avatar

Crying is good. Every time I do (about once a week for no "apparent" reason), I feel better. It makes us human.

Al Keim's avatar

Tears are a symptom of anger. Go ahead let it out. When your done, figure out why and what to do about it.

Debby Griffiths's avatar

My doctor put me on drugs to stop the anger/crying cycle. Either way I was ending up a basket case. They help a little. I guess I could ask for a higher dose, but I'm not looking to numb myself (maybe I should?) but just to stop the cycle for a while every day. I don't cry as often, but my head drops to my toes several times a day lately and I'm finding a sudden desire for junk food?

debra's avatar

You have to take care of yourself. Think of it as your contribution to the cause. Find ways to laugh, if only a few times a day. Do something soothing. I took up yoga nine months ago, and it has changed my life! I’m pulling for you, Debby!

Debby Griffiths's avatar

Thank you. I do go to the gym every other day, and have a subscription to Brit Box where I indulge in mysteries that are solved and the bad guy gets his comeuppance!

Having lived with a father who beat my mother regularly, I feel every word of this. This kind of violence is FAR TOO OFTEN swept under the rug, ignored, and tolerated. Hell, back in the era when this happened in my family, cops came to the door, but it was a "family matter" and they didnt do shit. Volunteer at your local women's shelter. Find out ways you can help.

Charles Austin's avatar

I guess it is a blessing that I am such a hermit. None of the Mennonite women I see on shopping days has any sign of being abused. But then Mennonites believe anger is a sin. Even unkind words are looked down on.

Al Keim's avatar

My Amish relatives heartily agree, Clarke :-)

Clarke Shaw's avatar

There are Amish here. But, other than waving to them, I have not had much experience with them. I used to work at a sawmill owned by Mennonites. I really like their practical jokes and sense of humor.

Robot Bender's avatar

I can't say that they are wrong in that.

Ransom Rideout's avatar

Been there too Charles. Not all the time but in the past decades. I've heard the 'oh, I just walked into the door on my way to....." That door would never cause a bruise like that. I should have done as you said and it would have ended it. Trying to counsel the shit would only make him hit her again for talking about it thinking she told me he did it.

Real tears have been flowing all over these past two days.

Virgin Monk Boy's avatar

The part that wrecks me is how fast the system moved to protect the man and flatten her into a footnote. That speed tells the truth louder than any press release. Thank you for refusing to let her be rewritten. Holding this in the light matters.

Charles Austin's avatar

I seem to be stuck between sadness and anger. Sadness for Renee, her wife, and her children. Anger at that murdering bastard and his enablers. What are we becoming? How can anyone "move on" from this? We witnessed a cold blooded murder, and chances are very good that it won't be the last. We must end this, or it will end us. 😥😥🫩

KingRayVet's avatar

I'm stuck like that, too. As I was looking around for a YT video of all this the day it happened, I kept bumping into guys just like that fucking Jonathan character. Then racists who love to talk about 'following orders' as if they'd just let that clown pull them out of the car and do God knows what to them. I'm so angry, I can barely breathe.

I really don't know that peaceful, non-violent methods will work with those thugs running around. They're all itching to hurt someone, have hurt people, and now are murdering in cold blood. They're doing it in those concentration camps, too. Just like the Nazis did. This is so sick and damn triggering for those of us who have experienced similar crazy-ass behavior from dudes in our life.

I would say God help us, but I don't think He will.

JJ, first off thank you for your tribute to Bobby.. as an older Deadhead I appreciate your acknowledgement to one of the most influential musicians of our time, well at least my time, I’m 74.. Another American sorrow coupled with this ICE agent who, in fact, murdered an innocent woman.. 3 shots in the face.. that is some insane anger..dollars to donuts he’s treated women with his anger issues previously. And for the Feds to pack his home up and move him and his family to a secure location… similar to the Millers and others moving to military installations. IMHO, Minnesota AG should convene a State Grand Jury, present the evidence and go for it…. We know the Feds will protect him, just as they protect that pedo in our WH. Best to all fellow travelers on this very, very sad day in America..

I understand all his "friends" came and helped his family move out of their house and go into hiding. So he's a "local" scumbag. This needs to be investigated as well. He is now hiding from facing the consequences of his actions. I'm pretty sure that's illegal too?

KingRayVet's avatar

He's a scumbag shitstain, but he's hiding because he's afraid someone will kill him and/or his family. They're all aiding & abetting a fugitive for murder. UGH!

I saw a video of a small parade of frozen water men. He needs to be charged and arrested. Murder is a capital crime, but at least on TV it is the locals who try them, not the feds. Of course with the cabal "in charge" who the hell knows.

LOVELY to see you Ray! How's it going?

KingRayVet's avatar

Writing is going slowly but surely. I have way too much to say. 😆

I took on a new-old endeavor and got myself a bass guitar. I've forgotten everything about them, so this will be wild. Haven't played in over 20 years.

Debby Griffiths's avatar

Music is good for the soul. And fun too!

Better you write slowly and get what you want said out clearly. That's my problem with writing letters to the senate. I want them to acknowledge everything and it just becomes a mess. You keep doing it the way you are and I think you will be happy with the end result.

Enjoy the bass. Our daughter once played bass. Husband plays a mean blues lead, so she didn't want to do that. She should have though, has his ear. I am no longer allowed to sing.... so sad, but no loss. LOL

KingRayVet's avatar

This is different than writing letters. I'm writing part of my story. The last 15 years of it. So much has happened. I keep dipping in and out of my distant past, before the 15 years.

I'd been playing since I was a teen, but hung it up for apartment living. I can't sing and play at the same time, and only do it for the enjoyment of it. I play by ear. 😉 And Aaaaaahahahaha. My sister said the same about me, cuz I can't really sing. My voice cracks too much now. 😆

I just got the bass yesterday. Now to put it all together and learn how to tune it. I got a little device to help, but don't know how to use it. I'll learn. I'm a quick-study.

Of all the videos I can’t bare to view anymore this last one is beyond heart wrenching because it says so much about what we as Americans have always believed. Clearly Good and her wife had chosen to follow ICE around to warn neighbors. Their right to do. It’s true the wife smarted off to the agents just before she tried to get in the locked SUV door. The fact she couldn’t probably saved her life. She had a right to free speech when she said what she did. I doubt either woman expected what was about to happen seconds later because this is America not Russia. Warning neighbors and using our voices didn’t get us murdered- until now. Seeing this attractive young mother, American, and human being a moment before an out of control ICE agent shot her 3 times in the head is so shocking it’s almost unbearable.

We crossed a rubicon that day. We now understand in a more graphic way than we did before that even two white women are not safe from the wrath of a secret police. Now we know exactly what we’re up against and I don’t think we can ever be quite the same again.

Suzette's avatar

I just saw a picture of the killer with his mail order Filipino wife. Throughout my life, I have met many men who married women from countries like that, because they wanted submissive women. In Ross's case his wife does not appear to even be 18 years old..I also saw a picture of his house (with his address posted, not cool in my opinion) with a Don't tread on me flag, on his front porch. I think that it tells us a lot about his character, BULLY!
