However, five years later, when it came time to renew the TANF(formerly AFDC) program, the Bush Administration and mist Republican states began to reverse these program expansions. Shortly after I retired, the Bush Administration started to undo the relaxed application process by imposing various administrative requirements—they hated being seen as encouraging people to receive publicly-funded health insurance. This was repeated a decade later with the Affordable Care Act—this time even more brutally. You are spot on about the cruelty of Republicans.

That was always my huge beef about the entire "abortion kerfuffle". People (the few fucking people I cared even a little about) all had these powerful opinions. Billboards all over the damn place showing little fetuses. The endless pontification about "When Does Life Begin". Not to mention the whole Pro-Choice demon moniker - like it is any of my damned business what ANY female human being does for HER medical care or with HER body.
The kerfuffle seemed to run from the fetus is a person as soon as the first cell splits, all the way to terminate in the delivery room (JK). I wondered to myself (after a bong hit) if wanking was going to be illegal if I came. Waste of half a little person and all. Or millions of little people.

But ask one of those saintly suburbanites if they ever gave to a food pantry, dropped a five in some down on their luck persons cup, thought to help out a neighbor in need, thought to get down to New Orleans after Katrina wreaked havoc (my best buddy and I did this), or did any damn thing except a balance their checkbook on time and whine ... the assholes look at you like you just sprouted a second head.
Mostly I stay away from real people now, unless they are immediate neighbors. I'd just stir up a kerfuffle. All I want to do with my time left is paint pictures, walk the dog, and spend quality time with my daughter, step daughters, grand daughters, and new grand baby daughter.
