Republicans have moved the line yet again… but this time it’s off the f’ng field entirely.
They aren’t just accommodating trump anymore. They’re holding the country hostage for him.
I used to believe that when it came to donald trump - that Republicans were perpetually moving the line to accommodate his bad behavior. And I meant it in the context of whatever “red line” might actually exist for them in terms of something, some sort of egregious behavior which was simply a bridge too far for them to go along with. Too grave to overlook. Something actually indefensible.
For instance - I THOUGHT that mocking John McCain for being captured (and of course, subsequently brutally tortured leaving him permanently disfigured) would be a line for them. He was after all, a war hero. A lifelong public servant. A leader. A patriot. And when the guy who five times feigned magical bone spurs to avoid being drafted mocked an actual hero of war, I thought - ‘yeah, no way they stick with him now’.
But they stuck with him. They just moved the line.
When he mocked that disabled reporter, something he’s tried to “dispute” despite the fact that it would require the mass lobotomization of the American people to believe him because we saw it with our own eyes and heard it with our own ears (stick a pin in that whole eyes and ears thing, we’ll come back to it in a bit)… I thought ‘yeah, no way they stick with him now.’
