hat makes this terrifying isn’t the comparison. It’s how cleanly it fits. We all watched it happen, in real time, with receipts, timestamps, and livestreams. And now we’re being told it was a misunderstanding, a tour, a vibe. That’s not political disagreement. That’s classic abuser math. “I didn’t do it. And if I did, it wasn’t that bad. And if it was, you’re crazy for remembering.” Calling that out isn’t hysteria. It’s basic reality maintenance.

Thanks for sharing, reminding us that not a criminal thing has changed just exacerbated, and on a personal wish, I’m hoping for an awakening of ALL VOTERS to call out their reps in government for allowing the regime to continue its brutal repression and suppression of the FUCKING TRUTH! And speaking about certain aspects of the truth, EPSTEIN & DON tha CON-FELON raped victims—what ARE the CONGRESSIONAL PEOPLE DOING about the VICTIMS!?

Sorry. not. What heroes our law enforcement officers have been on January 6, 2021–that day and sadly each consecutive day that leads up to TODAY. There needs to be more accountability for those who were involved AGAINST US, AGAINST WE THE PEOPLE! That disgusting day was against every American, every voter who WENT TO THE POLLS TO VOTE AGAINST DON AND HIS PUPPETEERS!

Trump is the biggest abuser of all. Abuser of women and young girls. Abuser of power. Abuser of office. Abuser of truth. We will never forget any of this. He will be remembered in history as the vile, perverted, weak abuser he is. Thank you Jo for everything you do.

Once again you've nailed JoJo. That was a horrific day and as a Canadian I can tell you that people around the world know actually what happened and no white washing by the Trump Regime or the GoP will change that!

I,too, was yelling at the TV, wondering when the police, the national guard, anyone!!!, would show up and make it stop. I'm still yelling at the screen, now about our ineffective Congress. I miss the country I grew up in.

The one time Trump could have legitimately used the national guard in a city, the one time that screamed out for utilizing the national guard, Trump didn't do it. We all watched it unfold in real time, but most were too shocked to call it out for what we were actually witnessing; the attempted violent overthrow of the government.

So we never held Trump accountable. We pissed on the Constitution and let the insurrectionist be President even though the Constitution prohibited it. The Roberts Court thought they could improve on Madison's writing and added presidential immunity to the Constitution, still having the balls to call themselves "strict constructionists" or "originalists." And now, like the schoolyard bully who beats up the poor kid and steals his lunch money while everyone watches and does nothing, Trump has used US troops to invade Venezuela and steal their oil.

There is no end to any of this until someone, somebody, somewhere, holds this asshole accountable for his actions.

I've been reading and listening to you for a while but this post made me subscribe. You lay this out so well in a way that all women I think can understand. I hope. Thanks for always putting yourself out there and speaking the truth.

In May 1970, Sandy Scheuer was walking to class at Kent State in Ohio. Her parents had escaped East Germany and made their way to America. Other family members tried to get out with them but were shot by the border guards. Mr. Scheuer was proud to raise his family in a nation where the government didn't shoot their people.

The Ohio National Guard fired a volley of live ammunition into a large group of students and protesters. Sandy was hit and died on the spot. That night Nixon and Agnew went on National TV and told Mr. Scheuer that his daughter had gotten what she deserved.

Trump is this taken to the highest (or lowest) level. Evil is his backbone. He cares about nobody but himself. Many of his followers are ready to die for him. They don't care who gets run over.

Someone else likened America to a family in a 50s car. Dad who is driving, is drunk and going too fast. America is the wife who would complain but he would just hit her again. The children are my children and grandchildren and yours too.

I have stopped watching the news. I don't care what the abusive bastard does. If he comes here or sends any of his people here I will deal with them then. I did the same thing in 1970. I didn't even own a TV until Nixon was gone.

Great article and on point. So many are just ignoring it today. And letting him get away with his latest act on Venezuela. Outrage after outrage and Congress just lets it happen. He wins.

"That’s what January 6th feels like. MAGA is the history-erasing ex and we are all my gaslit girlfriend." And we're still unfortunately married to that abuser. When we get healthy enough to say, "No More," we'll figure out how to rid ourselves of this bothersome plague! And then, we can begin the healing process (in the courts).

as always- your articulation is precisely on point.

my maga family members (who have also denied my sexual abuse- even though he was prosecuted and jailed) are still all full in on their support of trump. it’s like a kick in the face and a gut punch, at the same time.

thank you for your beautiful words and important sentiments, every day!

Reading Heather Cox Richardson today I learned a detail new to me about January 6th. It was only after the national guard showed up and Trump saw that the rioters would not prevail that he sent the message calling for everyone to go home.

Somehow that detail had escaped my notice. Not that it makes a world of difference but imagine that forked tongue slithering around his lips as the scene unfolded for three hours.

Decades ago I was a domestic abuse counselor. In hindsight, here's my take:

You can counsel the woman. You can counsel the abuser. In the end, the best deterrent was the victim's three older brothers.

While I was reading your post, JoJo, this popped up on my screen from The Hill: White House unveils Jan. 6 webpage saying Democrats ‘staged the real insurrection,’ criticizing Capitol Police

Great article. The DOJ is now actively trying to get rid of everything about that day. Thank God Jack Smith has receipts.
