They Had One Fucking Job
Democrats Seal Deal on Verbal ‘No Take-Backsies’ and a Mutual Go-Fuck-Yourself
The Democrats had one fucking job.
One.
Fucking.
Job.
Not “reinvent capitalism.” Not “end white supremacy with a TED Talk and a Canva deck. Not “heal the nation through brunch and borrowed gravitas.”
Just: don’t cave to fascists.
Don’t hand them a win.
Don’t sell out your base for a glowing quote in Politico and a seat next to Joe Manchin at a coal lobby dinner.
Hold. The. Fucking. Line.
But this is the Democratic leadership we’re talking about. They can’t just trip over their own dicks, they need to juggle them like flaming batons at a self-immolation seminar.
Because when it comes to folding, this party isn’t just consistent, they’re competitive. Olympic-level, gold-medal, multi-decade, humble-servant-to-the-oppressor professionals. They don’t just snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, they throw a fucking dinner party inside those jaws and ask the GOP if they’re comfortable enough.
And this time? They did it less than a week — LESS. THAN. A WEEK. — after the American people went full rage mode at the ballot box.
Tuesday wasn’t a midterm. It was a series of off-year elections that felt like a cosmic bitchslapping. A Miley-Cyrus-on-a-fucking-wrecking-ball pendulum swing of rage, rejection, and GET THE FUCK OUT energy aimed directly at Trumpism, MAGA Republicans, and the rotting centrists who enable them.
And five goddamn days later, Mr. “Strongly Worded Memo” — Chuck fucking Schumer — trotted out his milquetoast Gang of Eight Rich White People, and said:
“Whoa whoa whoa, that voter enthusiasm was way too spicy. Let’s water that down with some public groveling, a pinch of pre-surrender, and a big wet kiss for the hostage takers. MAGA, do you accept Venmo?”
They had momentum. They had the crowd. They had the scoreboard. They had Republicans face‑down in the mud of their own polling numbers, wheezing out bad-faith talking points while trying to gnaw through the chains they cuffed themselves to.
And instead of finishing the drive, instead of hammering the final nail into the flaming MAGA clown car, they turned around, handed the keys to the cult’s ransom crew and said, “Would you like snacks? Gatorade? A hand job? A warm wet towel and a blanket embroidered with ‘thank you for your cruelty’?”
It was so catastrophically stupid, it couldn’t have been an accident. And it wasn’t. They’d been spit-shining the white flag since before the election dust even settled.
Even The Onion got it before the news cycle did: “Chuck Schumer Helps Pull Democrats Back From Edge Of Courage.”
That wasn’t a sarcasm. It was journalism.
And no, it wasn’t “the Democrats.” It was eight. Eight senators who decided that decimating healthcare and starving children could be used as collateral, exactly as Republicans intended, and that this was an acceptable sacrifice if it meant being called “reasonable” by Chris fucking Cillizza.
And hovering behind them like a passive-aggressive gargoyle was Chuck Schumer, pretending to be neutral, pretending to have no earthly idea how the deal happened — as though he simply wandered into the Senate chamber and found a fully-formed surrender sitting there like a lost dog.
He didn’t “quietly allow” this. He didn’t “reluctantly accept” it. He helped coordinate the whole damn thing, then moonwalked into the shadows like we wouldn’t notice the Schumer-shaped hole in the drywall.
This wasn’t hesitant surrender, this was plausible deniability in a tailored suit, the kind you only wear when you know the cameras are rolling but still want to pretend you weren’t at the crime scene.
Like a mob boss muttering,
“I didn’t throw the body in the river. I just made sure the van had gas.”
He thinks we’re stupid. He thinks we won’t notice the man holding the clipboard and counting down the seconds until capitulation.
This isn’t leadership. It’s self-casting and self-gelding, a political vasectomy by choice, performed in the dark, without anesthesia, while the country bleeds out in the next goddamn room.
Schumer doesn’t stand up to fascists, he adjusts their fucking pillows. He doesn’t fight Republicans, he lays out the good towels for them before they walk in to kick democracy in the teeth.
And the gang of Eight? Don’t call them moderates. Don’t call them pragmatic.
They’re the cucks in the corner, hunched and silent, watching our country get hate-fucked by fascists and whispering, “At least they said we could pick the color of the strap-on next time.”
You don’t compromise with hostage-takers. You don’t make deals with people who use starvation as a legislative tactic.
No one — no one — wants suffering.
No one wants a six-year-old to go to school with an empty stomach and a backpack full of shame.
No one wants a parent crying in a parking lot because their EBT card got declined and their kid needed formula.
But we shouldn’t have to cut a deal with political arsonists just to keep people fed. We shouldn’t have to act civil while the country has a gun to its head and the shooter says, “Let us kill your healthcare or we’ll starve your kids.”
That’s not a deal. That’s not negotiation. That’s not governance. That’s fucking extortion.
And any Democrat who helps move that agenda forward should be too ashamed to shake hands, pose for photos, or pretend they belong in public office.
You’d have to be a fucking fool to trust Republicans on anything. They don’t compromise. They don’t bargain. They don’t keep their word.
They pinky swear. They cross their hearts and hope to die. They triple-dog-dare and super-duper-promise this time they’ll be gentle. And then — surprise! — they shove you down the stairs again, giggling like feral toddlers with diplomatic immunity.
And somehow, Democrats keep crawling back up the landing, bones cracked and dignity leaking out their ears, going:
“Okay, but maybe next time… can you hand me a cookie before you push? I just really need to show my voters I got something.”
And by the way? They didn’t even get the one thing they said they were holding the line for. The ACA tax credit extension? Gone.
And in the process, the Democrats who caved just taught Republicans that using mass starvation as a political weapon works.
What did they get?
Exactly the shit the GOP pointlessly yanked away — air traffic control, food assistance, basic fucking governance — handed back like it was some great favor. Like a kidnapper returning your kid’s shoelace and saying, “Look at me, being generous.”
Oh, but the Republicans “promise” they’ll have a vote in December. Just don’t worry that MAGA Mike Johnson already said he probably won’t hold that vote — but hey, details schmeetails, amirite?
Let me quote my friend Steve Hofstetter, who said it better than most pundits with a platform:
“If I dangle you off the edge of a building and then pull you back up, I didn’t save your life. I almost killed you.”
That’s what just happened.
Republicans didn’t just push this country to the edge — they skipped there. Gleefully. They cheered while yanking away food, housing, healthcare, and yes, even the basic expectation that airplanes shouldn’t fall out of the fucking sky. They celebrated the pain.
But just to underline how performative and hollow that “win” was?
The very next morning, the Trump administration was back at the Supreme Court, fighting to strip food benefits from hungry Americans.
TODAY. They’re in court, trying to make mass starvation a constitutionally protected political strategy.
And Republicans have the audacity to look at this collapse and say, “See? These Democrats finally get it. They’re being very sensible now.”
Give me a fucking break.
I’ve seen people say this kind of betrayal makes them want to give up. That it makes it hard to keep fighting.
And I hear that. I really do.
But they were never going to save us. Not the old guard. Not the ones who treat bipartisan brunches like sacraments. Not the senators who think “constituent outreach” means letting a hedge fund manager pick the menu at the next fundraiser.
The American people don’t want this country bullied by Republicans anymore. And they showed up last Tuesday and screamed that. Loudly. They didn’t whisper it. They didn’t suggest it in passing. They filled ballot boxes and flipped seats and made it crystal fucking clear:
Stop. Siding. With. Saboteurs.
And watching a handful of Democrats, people we elected, turn around and link arms with the very motherfuckers who are actively harming us on purpose every single day is a gut punch. A betrayal.
And yes, it makes us fucking angry. Righteously. Deservedly. Incandescently. ANGRY.
They are not the resistance. We are.
There is a generational, moral, cultural shift happening. And it’s bigger than Schumer. It’s bigger than the Eight. And if they can’t feel that shift, they need to get out of the fucking way.
Because we’re not done. We’re not giving up. We’re not folding just because a few self-important senators mistook “bipartisan” for “bend over.”
We are fighting Trump. We are fighting Trumpism. We are fighting for the families counting pennies for insulin. For the kids who didn’t ask to be pawns in a sick political game. For the workers who keep showing up even when the government stops paying them. For the future we’re not ready to bury.
We are fighting for every single person Republicans are trying to harm — and for every Democrat foolish enough to think those people aren’t watching. Even the neighbor with the Jesus-Trump flag flapping on their roof like a bat signal for bullshit. Even he deserves better than this.
But this isn’t just a eulogy for courage. This is a fucking call to arms.
Because this ain’t over.
The bill hasn’t passed yet. The deal’s not done. The betrayal is in motion — but we can stop it. We can still make them choke on their cowardice.
Mike Johnson won’t even answer questions about an ACA vote because he has no intention of holding one. He said the quiet part out loud: There is no deal. Just a Democratic cave-in pre-sweetened with broken promises.
So call these senators. Tell them to vote NO. Call all damn day. Flood their offices like your survival depends on it — because for millions of people, it does.
These are the eight Democratic Senators saving Donald Trump and MAGA.
Call them. Demand they flip their vote to NO.
Tell them that they need an actual agreement on those ACA subsidies in writing not a pinky swear. 👇
Sen. Dick Durbin (D–IL) — (202) 224-2152
Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D–NV) — (202) 224-3542
Sen. John Fetterman (D–PA) — (202) 224-4254
Sen. Tim Kaine (D–VA) — (202) 224-4024
Sen. Angus King (I–ME) — (202) 224-5344
Sen. Jacky Rosen (D–NV) — (202) 224-6244
Sen. Maggie Hassan (D–NH) — (202) 224-3324
This isn’t the end.
It’s not even the middle.
It’s the part right before everything fucking explodes.
The spark before the detonation.
The moment before the screaming starts and the cowards realize they’ve made a fatal mistake.
This is the part of the movie where the hero stops asking permission, and starts fucking wrecking shit.
Where the gloves are off, the patience is gone, and every spineless sellout in a Senate pin is about to learn what rage in motion actually looks like.
Where we stop playing nice.
Where we stop writing letters and start raising hell.
Where we show them we’re not here to be “reasonable.” We’re here to win. So, let’s fucking go.
Yippee‐fucking Ki‐Yay.
And with that, today’s song:
I love you guys!
Stay safe out there, stay strong and keep making those phone calls!!!
💙 Jo

Spot on yet again Jo, even as a Canadian I was pissed when I first heard the rumours of this happening and totally angry when it did. Trusting the Republicans for anything is ridiculous and those 8 will probably retire before their next elections while the people who voted them in will still be suffering. Shame on them all!
Fabulous, as always, Jo! I'm appalled and embarrassed by the Dems. I've always known we're too eager to go soft, but now it's dangerous. MAGA wants to destroy us. I did call my Senator, and I'm going to send him an email. Told him outright that he's let down his constituency from the moment he was elected.
