There was a Style Council song in my 20s that asked "When are you gonna find the strength of your nature? When are you gonna let yourself take control?" Sitting on the outside of your world, it seems as if you've found that strength and are taking control best you can. You've used your voice as a way to provoke tgought, unite kindred souls, and to provide for you and your kids. I applaud you for that.
Personally, I've chosen to lean into Christmas this year. For one, there's been too much death around me and some friends, and I'm afraid that's part of growing older, and next Christmas isn't guaranteed. Also, I'm part of a facet of diversity that's under attack, and who knows how that will shake out? But bottom line: the bastards have been squatting space in our heads for far too long, and they're not gonna take this small traditional time of joy from me.
Anyway, lady, keep fighting the good fight, and know that your writing comes with an implied figurative group hug from your readers. May you and your kids have a peaceful Christmas. 😊🎄🎅🤶🧑🎄❤️💚
