Cardinal Dolan has a history of ignoring and rewriting history, which is an American tradition: Groups Condemn Appointment of Archbishop Dolan to Cardinal of New York | Center for Constitutional Rights https://share.google/JO8XD8gG8ruRU2M7e

Thanks for reminding us, JoJo

Truth, Person 1. One gay man (with no political party) fired one bullet from one rifle.

Truth, Person 2. One homophobic racist man (a Republican) was funded to rant those hatreds for over 10 years.

Obviously time catches up with you, but who paid Person 1? Who funded Person 2?

Where politicians often use hate speech there are 8.6 times more domestic terrorist attacks. That is from a recent study by political scientist Jame Piazza, Politicsl Science Professor, Penn State, He found that countries where politicians used hate speech 'often' or 'extremely often' experienced an average of 107.9 domestic terrorist attacks compared to just 12.5 attacks in countries where politicians rarely used such language.

https://theconversation.com/when-politicians-use-hate-speech-political-violence-increases-146640

The right’s violent ideological domestic terror accounts 5.4 times more events. The right also accounts 6.66 times more deaths than from the left. The National Institute of Justice.

Republican lawmakers have led in bogus hate speech accusations. They also lie about these statistics suggesting the opposite results. JD Vance just said the opposite speaking from the dead Charlie Kirk’s desk. There is little integrity on the right..

I found a mighty girl knowledgeable.

Be accurate. There's no proof the shooter was gay. The fact he had a relationship with a transitioning person, doesn't mean he's gay.

Punkette's avatar

Thanks, Don. The gay/trans backstory was pushed by right-wingers like Utah Gov. Cox. Even the shooter’s text exchange with his roommate is being questioned on social media. Meanwhile we have heard nothing new about the case. Color me skeptical.

DonP's avatar

The whole reason the text chain is being questioned is that when read it really doesn't sound like an actual text chain, but a "translated" one, or it comes off as reading the way a LE investigator would either run an interrogation, or has been transcribed from an initial interrogation of the suspect.

All that can be said for certain right now, is that the FBI is completely compromised and can't be trusted, right wingers are desperate to pin this on a non-conservative, and the shooter is waffling between cooperation and trolling the cops.

Punkette's avatar

Right on, Don! 👏🏼

Charles Austin's avatar

The text chain is phony. People in that age group don't communicate like that.

Carl Selfe's avatar

When your Mom says you are gay, you are gay.

DonP's avatar

In my experience, if it doesn't come from the "horse's mouth", it's opinion only.

Seriously so. I am astounded by her talent for that.

Entirely fair here, Jo! The first things I saw from him that really annoyed me were those he said about that spectacular gymnast Simone Biles, but your compilation is a good start.

I do hope we start talking more about Tom Homan and Jeffrey Epstein this week

RRiveter's avatar

Totally agree- Simone Biles???? Why insult her, one of the greatest gymnasts every to grace the planet, and a bright woman when you hear her talk. So any black woman who has achieved some level of greatness was an asshole in CK's opinion? Wow.

David's avatar

Yes! After all the things they've done to push the Epstein scandal off the radar, Tommy "Bagman" Homan was not their choice. lets hope some paper gets to write "The ICEman Goeth" as a headline soon...

Cardinal Dolan's comments make me want to hurl.

Brilliant JoJo. No, I don’t buy it. Kirk was no prophet, no Jesus Christ, not a Kant, or even a Jefferson. He isn’t a martyr, he is an invention. In truth, he was a demagogue whose “philosophy” was trope and prejudice. I neither celebrate his death nor his life.

Michele Dukinfield's avatar

It is garbage being spewed by the likes of a cardinal in support of an evil man that reminds me why I left the Catholic Church when my kids were young.

The hypocrisy of Dolan, and every other person who says with a straight face that Charlie Kirk was anything other than what he was is breathtaking. And what he was has no place in any heart that loves justice or cares about the human race.

Thanks for this dose of reality concerning CK. I’m outside of Phoenix, so far today LE found an impersonator with his fake Idaho sheriff badge, knives and guns. People lined up about 2 in the morning…. Now we hear 200,000 people will be showing up, they will be in the stadium p, in the huge tent outside of the stadium and the parking lot..it’s going get around 95-100 degrees today…be a shame if people began to tip over…. Donald will play the crowd like a rally.. showtime folks real soon… and don’t get me started about Rapture Tuesday.☺️

David's avatar

200,000 is an appalling number for a guy who literally offended every woman, every minority, and every democrat, small d. And the said thing is many of them will be women, though perhaps few will be black or brown.

I don't say this much, but thank god for global warming. The blue suit is going to be very uncomfortable, and the sweat will make the hand-spackle crumble...Phoenix on Sept 21 is about as well thought out as everything else magats do...

Steph's avatar

off subject here: but i haven’t seen anyone commenting on this- but don’t you think that the regime is pushing the ufc fight at the whitehouse with all the ai photos to make dummyheads believe how popular and successful he is with all the massive (fake) crowds he gets. obviously there are no real pictures of his lame attempts at getting crowd support.

literally- north korea is where we’re at.

Michelle Maisner's avatar

I agree with your thoughtful observations on this matter. We can denounce his murder while at the same time be mystified at the reaction of people and their mischaracterization of what he stood for.

Michelle's avatar

Not mystified, sickened!

Michelle Maisner's avatar

You’re right, sickened is the better word.

Al Keim's avatar

It's a mystery to me as well Michelle. The clips of his statements probably don't do justice to what he was but they do provide a window on a dark worldview.

Michelle Maisner's avatar

It’s so confusing 🫤. Was he about promoting the teachings of Jesus or was he about provoking and disparaging people?

Al Keim's avatar

Just started a book Michelle, Separation of Church and Hate. All by itself on the second page is this:

I've come to view Jesus

the way I've come to view Elvis.

I love the guy, but some of the fan clubs terrify me.

David Stewart's avatar

I'm wondering how much longer we'll have to wait for a "What Would Charlie Do?" meme campaign.

Stephanie Forbes's avatar

That is an excellent observation

RRiveter's avatar

I have been stymied about CK's elevation to the Messiah, when in fact, he was a glib, politically savvy bigot who was able to raise millions of dollars for Trump's campaign, made from ignorant Gen X'ers who were mere children during the first regime of Trump's. The next thing that has truly shocked me is his wife, who ostensibly agreed to his statements of women needing to stay at home and raise the children, but now, she made threats of her "hate and anger" and strongly stated she would take over his business of manipulating young, ignorant minds. Wow, guess the Hispanic nanny will be raising her children, in their Arizona home. Thirdly, there were videos of her crying over his casket in a chapel, seen yesterday. I get that. But it didn't stop there. Then there were pictures of her placing her well-manicured hand next to his embalmed hands, and photos taken, and the real shitkicker: these photos were placed on Instagram by her. The narrative accompanying the photos said her hair was uncoiffed, which was, due to her grief it said, but hell, she still had time to get a professional manicure. And Utah LE has steadfastly reported that the kid accused of murder was NOT associated with any left leaning organization, but was heavily into online gaming, and online communication of hate-filled speech. So his wife contributes to the online scourge by posting part of her dead husband's body online. Wow. I have absolutely no publishable words for this.

Debby Griffiths's avatar

On Instagram? Who does that? Good observation about the hair/nails too. She's as phony and as avaricious as her husband. Those kids don't have a chance to form well.

RRiveter's avatar

Another few comments: 1. Today during her eulogy, she says "I forgive his killer". Well, that's great, but after the killing, ( I paraphrase): she also said that " you have no idea what fire and hate this action has released in me". OK, so which is it: forgiveness or outrageous vindictiveness? 2. I cannot put together the contorted comments said by the DT minions about Kirk's "deep faith" and his absolutely hateful, bigoted commentary, which is easily accessed online. And he doesn't make these comments quietly but with some rage, emphasis, even some mocking attitude towards others. How in sweet Jesus does this type of thought process pair with "deep faith"? Deep faith of what? I know the wife was Catholic before meeting him, then became Evangelical, but I don't know what religion he may have been when he was younger, but obviously grew into Evangelism. I may be wrong, but I really don't think that all Evangelist Christians feel that Black pilots are incompetent, Black, educated women lack higher level cognitive skills, MLK was a "bad man", wives should just raise the kids, the attacker of Pelosi should be released from jail, etc etc etc. I know how DT and his minions arrive at these accepted opinions: through lies and manipulation of the masses, but over 100,000 souls participating in this event today? How do they justify his reported deep faith with his hateful comments? I guess they just don't process the whole of the person, just the purported religious side. I'm having real problems with understanding all of that.

DonP's avatar

I have empathy and sympathy for this kids in this moment. We'll see how long that lasts when they grow up.

As for his wife, sorry. Kirk was worth almost $12 million at this death, and she still creates a GoFundMe that garners almost $5 mill for "expenses". When I had to bury my parents in 2020, the total for both was right about $6K. So what are all these expenses she needs to cover. I'd also ask, why it is she can't get access to that money, but my guess is it's because he didn't set it up as a joint account, but rather in his name only. I'm also wondering if he had a will. Still, it shows just how broken a large section of our populace is that they'd donate to it, given the often disgusting, and sometimes outright vile "opinions" he spouted into the ether.

Michelle's avatar

Turns out his wife came to the marriage with considerable money herself. Why the go fund me? Because these people always want more. More than they need or can ever spend. No I have no empathy for his wife. She seems to be just as infected with rot as he was. I do feel for the kids because they have no options. They, for now, cannot escape the foulness of their parents. My hope is that one day they can with their souls intact.

DonP's avatar

Yeah. I'd have had a bit more sympathy for her had she not immediately pivoted to a grift for money she didn't really need. As far as I'm concerned, Kirk was just another grifter who discovered at a young age that in the USA, hate and outrage sells.

Don'tStopMeNow/Toni Lawrence's avatar

If Charlie believed women did not have the capacity to make decisions, and wants to revert back to the "Golden Age", then him not having her name on any home or bank account would make sense. I probably suspect that, in order not to pay taxes he simply had all his finances and his home under the umbrella of his non-profit organization.

Brilliant!!! Ou rector today talked about our need to relentlessly pursue justice, not once in a while but ALWAYS! Also, we are decorating for Halloween this coming weekend too! Halloween is my wife’s birthday so it’s a big deal here! 🎃 All our grandkids LOVE Halloween! 👻

Happy birthday to her!!!!

It is our favorite holiday too, and we have our yard already decorated - but will continue to add more (ad nauseum) until Halloween day itself. lol It does release some of the tension and anger about what is going on around us.

As a convert to Catholicism a few decades ago, I was horrified by the words of Cardinal Dolan and thought for one second “could he be a MAGA”? Not impossible, of course and that Kirk was Catholic!! The nightmare gets worse. All the things we learn are wrong if our faith in God means anything. It’s next level hypocrisy. Winging the MAGA hats into the crowd at the university was telling: recruitment. I won’t upset myself further by watching the memorial service. I’d much rather find something amusing and/or uplifting to watch. Another meaningful read. Thanks, Jo

David's avatar

Not Maga , just cynical, like those fawning evangelical pastors. This is the cabal that wanted to ex-communicate John Kerry and Joe Biden , but only while they were campaigning, to influence an election in favor of their perceived allies, the Red State racists. Democrats, and their live-and-let-live ways, scare the Catholic churches conservative wing (and base).

Debby Griffiths's avatar

I dunno, they are still trying to trash Biden, a better man in his little finger than Dolan in his entire body apparently.
